The Diponegoro University Animal Husbandry Doctoral Program, through the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Agriculture (FPP), continues to promote the internationalization of education through student exchange programs at Universiti Putra Malaysia and Sunway University. These activities were attended by doctoral (PhD) students Bilal Ahmed and Azher Ali, as part of strengthening global academic networks.
The series of activities began with an academic orientation session that provided an understanding of the learning system, research directions, and academic expectations in an international environment. Through this activity, students gained insight into the importance of collaboration, discipline, and global academic standards in supporting successful studies.
Next, students participated in various experiential learning activities, including field sessions on forage management and its utilization for animal feed. In these activities, students learned firsthand about forage selection techniques, pasture management, and sustainable feeding strategies to increase livestock productivity.
In addition, students visited a Black Soldier Fly (BSF) facility to learn about the use of larvae as an alternative protein source in animal feed. This activity provides an understanding of the concept of circular agriculture, where organic waste can be processed into value-added products that support an environmentally friendly livestock system.
The student exchange program also includes academic visits to internationally recognized educational facilities and research centers at Sunway University. Students gain experience accessing modern academic resources, such as digital databases, collaborative learning spaces, and research support systems that enhance the quality of doctoral research.
During this opportunity, students also visited the Jeffrey Sachs Center on Sustainable Development and the Jeffrey Sachs Institute on Southeast Asia, which play a role in supporting the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through interdisciplinary research and global collaboration.
Through this series of activities, students are expected to broaden their international perspectives, enhance their academic and technical competencies, and produce relevant and impactful research for the development of sustainable livestock in Indonesia.
